Collectif Charbon was born out of a simple observation: Cholet lacked venues for electronic music. No infrastructure, no budget, no network. Just a town, an idea, and an association set up from scratch to provide a framework for it.
In two years, over 40 events organised, more than 90000 views on Instagram,
without spending a single euro on advertising.
The visual identity is based on stark black and white, accented by a vibrant green, creating a tension between the underground and energy. For the marketing, a deliberately offbeat choice was made : Louis de Funès, a french actor during the 80's was featured as a recurring figure. His expressions and his style, which oscillated between excess and precision, fitted perfectly with the desired aesthetic : memorable, unique, consistent.
I was responsible for everything from programming to set design, covering the entire production process :
- line-up composition,
- site visits,
- artist relations management,
- development of all pre-launch communications, including visuals, content and a schedule
- stage design
- the production of animated video loops projected on stage
- the photoshoot on the D day
A comprehensive project, managed alongside a full-time job and freelance assignments. It is a project that says as much about the approach as it does about the motivation behind it, from which the name derives.
